  • Phil and I needed a new entertainment center, so rather than buy one, we decided to make something that fit our style. The cowhide was left over from a mirror that we made a few years ago. I think it turned out pretty great, and I know for a fact that we couldn't buy something like this for what we made it for! And yep, that's Ohio State playing on the television! (Even though they lost, we are still big fans!)

    Halloween Mantle

For this project, I made the skeleton centerpiece from a vintage mirror, plastic skeleton and hundreds of dollar store plastic bugs. We also built the boxes that the grave stones sit in. The branches are from the yard with a bit of black paint.

    Christmas Mantle

For this project, we built the wooden frame. I cut a traditional garland into pieces to make the drapes, then added glass bulbs and oversized pinecones that I painted silver. I also used seed pods from my trees that I also painted silver. The wreath was purchased with the lights on it, but I added the rest to match the garland. I also added battery operated string lights to the garland.
