Mt. Rainier March 2013

I chose the perfect day to snow shoe up to Mount Rainier, the skies were stunning. I followed some tracks up to a ridge which had stunning 360 degree views. I handheld this video and tried to be fluid, but that is just not possible on snow shoes! I almost made it all of the way around!

My favorite image of the day, the tracks were from a coyote and were perfect for a leading line, as well as a natural element.
As the day passed by, (I spent 3 hours on the ridge watching the light change) a bank of clouds moved in and covered Mt. Rainier. This is all you could see of the mountain at this time.

Right before the sun set, the clouds and fog covered all of the views. I decided to head down, and all of the sudden a fireball revealed itself and bathed the world in a gorgeous golden glow. The side lighting also helped reveal the patterns in the snow as well.
