09/30/2012- Made another trip to Nisqually today, we are having the most amazing weather for this time of year! Not too many birds to be seen, accept in the distance, but I'm never disappointed while visiting this park!

9/5/12 The arrival of the evening grosbeaks in my backyard has signaled the beginning of fall migration. I decided to head over to Nisqually to see what birds may be passing through, and instead found it to be extremely quiet. This little tree frog greeted me on the trail in, but over the next couple of hours and no real sightings, I decided that my photo op wasn't going to reveal itself. At this point I figured I would just enjoy the weather and hike when a great blue heron arrived and deemed me worthy of a fishing lesson. It is no wonder I receive so much enjoyment from this location with every trip!

First lesson in fishing, concentrate on the water.

Secondly, call to the fish.

Third, the slam dunk dive!

Fourth, remain submerged.

Bingo, the payoff!

Next, shake off the kelp and take your catch to shore.

Okay, it would probably be better if you didn't choke on your food!

6/21/12 Wednesday was one of the most beautiful days, 70 degrees, sun and clouds, nice breeze, time to get outside and play!! I headed over to Nisqually and just enjoyed the great outdoors. Sorry to tell you mom, but I also spotted bird number 200, the Cliff Swallow!! Catch me if you can!! This was also my first chance to try out my newly converted IR camera, and the results are awesome! I am truly hooked and can't wait to get it up on the mountain!

Love the transformation from winter to spring, this area is covered in water over the winter!
